Elizabeth Hoyt Covers her Maiden Lane Series in 60 Seconds

We’re about to publish Duke of Sin, the 10th title in Elizabeth Hoyt’s Maiden Lane series. So, we thought: What better time to get the lowdown on all things Maiden Lane, and who better to tell us than Elizabeth?

And, Elizabeth delivered! Read on to get up to speed on the most important things about Maiden Lane, Elizabeth’s favourite bits and a hint of what’s to come.

 peanuts snoopy delight

  1. What’s the single most important thing we need to know about the Maiden Lane series?

I have it on good authority (readers!) that Maiden Lane is addictive. 😉

  1. In five sentences tell us what the series is about. Go:

Finding redemption through love. The friction between opulence and destitution. The importance of family. Sexual tension through swashbuckling and wordplay. Moral choices.

  1. What’s your favourite book in the series?

Duke of Sin, which sounds a bit coy, but it’s true. This book is slightly different from my other books. The ‘hero’ is a villain – and he STAYS a villain. The heroine in contrast is a morally upright housekeeper who challenges him and doesn’t let him get away with anything. They are perfect for each other.

  1. Who’s your favourite character?

Valentine Napier, the Duke of Montgomery, the hero of Duke of Sin. One, because he’s such a complex character: there’s a contrast between the flamboyant, sinister persona he presents to the world and his interior self, and THAT contrasts to what he’s concealing about himself from himself (if that makes any sense).

Also, on a purely practical level, he’s a ‘wordy’ character, which is great fun to write. 😉

  1. Give us a hint about what’s coming next

I’m working right now on Alf’s book: Duke of Pleasure, which will come out in late fall 2016.

  1. Complete the following sentence: If you like x, y and z, you’ll love the Maiden Lane series

If you like sensual love scenes, complex characters and enthralling stories, you’ll love the Maiden Lane series.

Duke of Sin is out May 31st, 2016

What’s Next for Elizabeth Hoyt’s Maiden Lane?

Sweetest ScoundrelAs some of you may know, Elizabeth Hoyt has agreed to continue her Maiden Lane series! We’re terribly excited, but it begs the question: where is the series going next?

Thankfully, Elizabeth has agreed to answer that question:

Late next month my ninth Maiden Lane novel, Sweetest Scoundrel will hit stores. Asa Makepeace is an eagerly awaited hero, if my reader mail is anything to go by. He’s self-made, big, bold and brash. Our heroine, Eve Dinwoody, in contrast, is the bastard daughter of a duke and a retiring sort of lady. She’s dragged rather unwillingly out of the comforts of her quiet house by her brother who has left her in charge of the finances of Asa’s pleasure garden.

Is Asa pleased by this turn of events? You can bet your brass buttons he isn’t. But while Eve might be retiring she isn’t about to let Asa just walk all over her — even if he’s about the sexiest man she’s ever seen. For his part, Asa isn’t used to a woman who isn’t intimidated by him or his temper, who actually argues back and who sees him as a man — not just as a business. This is a true clash of personalities and I hope you enjoy reading Sweetest Scoundrel!

And after Sweetest Scoundrel? I’m pleased to announce that I’ve been contracted for another three Maiden Lane novels, starting with Duke of Sin, the Duke of Montgomery’s book is coming in late spring 2016. Montgomery made quite an impression upon readers in Darling Beast: he’s mercurial, vain, and amoral. In the past he’s done some pretty terrible things, and on Goodreads and my Facebook page many are wondering if I can redeem him. I certainly hope so . . . but it may be a journey. 😉 His heroine is Bridget Crumb, the bastard daughter of an aristocrat and Montgomery’s housekeeper.

After Duke of Sin comes Duke of Pleasure with a new hero, Hugh Fitzroy, the Duke of Kilshaw, but a long-awaited heroine, Alf, the girl — actually a woman — dressed as an urchin boy in previous Maiden Lane books. Finally, I’ll be ending Maiden Lane with Duke of Desire.

If you haven’t already, do go ahead and check out some of the places I lurk online. I make idea books for each of my books on Pinterest, and I discuss and sometimes hold Name that Dog Character Contests on Facebook. You can read excerpts of upcoming books on my website, as well as read bonus content such as the extra epilogue to Dearest Rogue I recently wrote. And on Twitter I’m mostly just silly.

Happy Reading!

Elizabeth Hoyt and Alba in Bookland choose their book boyfriend

For day 2 of our search for the perfect Valentine’s Day book boyfriend, bestselling author Elizabeth Hoyt and Alba from the blog AlbaInBookland make some brilliant choices. But do you agree? Tell us your ultimate Valentine’s Day book boyfriend on Facebook or Twitter now!

Elizabeth:

My book boyfriend is Wolf MacKenzie from Linda Howard’s classic, MacKenzie’s Mountain. Wolf is strong, gentle, protective, and, of course, heart-meltingly sexy!

Alba:

You know what they say… Boys. They are better in books. I think I have so many book boyfriends that I could fill a whole notebook listing them. Yes, I am a book slut. But can I do, I fall in love easily and thanks to my books I have met the most perfect, gorgeous and charming men.

If I had to choose only one I think I would pick Alex Reid, from the I Heart Series by Lindsey Kelk. What can I say… I have a soft spot for musicians and Alex is the leading singer of his own rock band. With a wild past, he is ready to settle down and with that long fringe falling on his green eyes, who would be able to tell him no? Imagine going to a concert with thousands of people and knowing that he is singing the songs he has composed for you directly at you, because you are the only that matters to him. Dream come true. But he is much more than a musician, always easygoing but ready for a grand gesture when you less expect it. Perfect book boyfriend material.

Also, if I had to choose a Piatkus book boyfriend in between all the gorgeous men they publish, I’d pick without a doubt Luc, from Breaking Love by M.J. Summers. Luc is sexy as hell and the most romantic guy ever and he is French. Who can resist a French accent? I would totally escape to Paris with him for a weekend, or… eh… forever!

Happy publication day Christine King!

We are excited to finally welcome the 2013 Entice Writing Competition winner Christine King to Piatkus! Her regency romance debut, The Blade and the Dove, is filled with secrets, danger and ferocious passion.

Trapped she may be, tamed she is not . . .

Lady Elinor, the ethereally beautiful wife of Sir Lucien Reveley, is lusted after by many but known by no one. Famously cold and unfeeling, she is regarded by the gossiping Ton with curiosity. Yet beneath her seeming serenity hides a desperate woman – married to a man whose public persona belies the sadistic, sensual monster within.

Finally pushed to breaking point, Elinor flees, desperate to escape the increasingly debauched demands of her husband. Living a modest life in hiding, Elinor keeps herself safe, but when she meets a man who sees beneath her reserve, a man who makes her tremble for his touch, the secrets of her past threaten to destroy her fragile peace . . .

Perfect for fans of Stephanie Laurens, Mary Balogh or Elizabeth Hoyt, Christine King is a stunning new voice in historical romance!
