Meet the Team
THE ENTICE TEAM
One of our most frequently asked questions is who we are and what we do! So here’s a little introduction to the key members of our Entice team
Anna Boatman: I joined Little, Brown at the beginning of February 2013, having previously worked for Harlequin on the Mills & Boon and MIRA imprints. I work with around thirty of Piatkus’s authors including global bestsellers such as J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan and Julia Quinn.
As Senior Editor, my other main focus is buying new authors for the Piatkus and Entice lists. As such, I’m always on the hunt for new and exciting voices with a growing platform either in the States or in the UK. I’m looking for very commercial women’s fiction storytellers to whom readers wish to return time and time again, from lush Historical romances to witty, intelligent chick-lit to spell-binding paranormal authors and women’s fiction with a twist. There’s also nothing I love more than discovering fresh and exciting genres, so I’m keen to see more New Adult submissions as well as any authors who bring new life to tried-and-tested themes
Caroline Kirkpatrick: Having previously been a flight attendant for the royal family of Dubai, I swapped a life at 40,000 feet for working in the exciting world of romance! I joined Piatkus Fiction in September 2012, having previously worked at Mills and Boon and the Darley Anderson literary agency. As Junior Editor, I work with Grace on the desk-editing across all of our fiction titles and will be working closely with Editorial Director Emma Beswetherick on our super lead title for 2014. No two days are ever the same at Piatkus and Piatkus Entice and I am very lucky to read about hunky heroes for a living!
As well as looking after existing Piatkus authors including New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Laurens and popular regional saga author Jessica Blair, I also acquire new titles for Piatkus. My most recent acquisition is bestselling author Jennifer Haymore whose first title, The Duchess Hunt, in the fantastic Regency romance House of Trent series, was published this June, 2013 .
I also acquire for Piatkus Entice and I’m on the lookout for exciting and engaging women’s commercial fiction with a strong hook, vivid characterisation and global appeal. I am keen to acquire page-turning American authors with a growing platform as well as UK debut authors with a character-led series focus. Sexy and fun Regency romance, strong contemporary romances, exciting paranormal and supernatural romances as well as localised niche crime series are all on my list of must-haves.
In my spare time I am a volunteer dog walker at Battersea Dogs and Cats home and hope that I may one day find my very own Mr Darcy whilst out walking a pooch or two . . .
Grace Menary-Winefield: In my job as Piatkus Assistant Editor I keep the team in order and ease their administrative load so they can focus on bringing exciting new talent to the Piatkus imprint! Caroline and I concentrate on the desk-editing of the imprint and I have recently taken on the organisation of ‘Pimp My Cookie’ Day. Which is any day, really. We just like cookies.
Working for Piatkus Entice is a joy! I have recently taken on the bulk of the publicity, including social media, blogger reviews and organising the website content with the marketing team. It’s super exciting discovering fresh, new talent and discerning whether a vampire story is something special (or just a book with fangs) and if a historical romance is really rich (or just Fifty Shades in corsets). Interests include genre fiction stories that take risks, especially New Adult, and haunting new voices of paranormal horror and romance.
